Sidewalk music out of control
695 Franklin Ave sidewalk parties are every single night I’m starting to breakdown from the exhaustion. I’ve been sending 311 reports nightly. I don’t know what else to do! If anyone else is suffering maybe more 311 reports will help. Idk why these parties can’t be at the bar a block away or inside 😭 any advice??

Motorcycle owners - heads up
Saw a dude on my walk home checking parked bikes for locks. By ditmars/73 St. Chubby Spanish guy in his mid 30s wearing all black and a German style half helmet. He himself was on a motorcycle or scooter. While I was following him, he started peering into cars. As I approached he must’ve gotten spooked and took off. Called the cops and they were responsive. They said they’ll keep a lookout. And that they’ve had a lot of stolen scooter/motorcycle calls recently.

Empty apartments left unlocked - safety issue?
I just moved into a studio on the 4th floor of a building in Bed Stuy. The street is okay but there's clearly drug dealing going on. The building was recently remodeled and several units are still empty and the doors are just open. It gives me the creeps at night that someone could slip into the building and then hide out in one of the empty units. Am I being paranoid or should I bug the landlord?

The trash situation in South Williamsburg is catastophic.
How can we fix this? Kent is supposed to be a beautiful street and the amount of trask between south 8th and south 10th is appalling. Open to any and all ideas!

What’s up with the Verizon truck on 46th ave? It’s been there for almost a year it seems, taking up a huge part of the sidewalk. Worst part is people are leaving their trash on it… anyone know anything?

Block near Othellos- saw a tall slim mixed guy with shaved head, black shirt, black pants with adidas stripes trying to get into an ice cream truck and checking surrounding cars and trash. He's on a blue Citi bike. Probably going to try another block.

Roach infestation!!
Over the last week I’ve noticed a SIGNIFICANT amount of roaches in my apt, the laundry room, the trash room. I was just opening the door to the garbage room and one actually fell from the top of the door as some on the ground scattered away. I understand this is common in buildings and a major contributor is the current temperature. But omg this is so disturbing. The monthly building exterminator just sprays the common areas and it doesn’t do much. I just used combat and…

I’ve lived in a basement unit apartment in Queens for the past 2 years and only once have I seen a huge roach in my home (that I knew came from outside). In recent weeks, I’ve seen two small roaches and another last night. After further research it seems like these are German roaches and I should be acting fast. As well my apartment gets incredibly hot in the summer, and due to shitty electrical we usually can only use about 1 AC unit. Like everyone else we have no…

I live in a small studio in and. have never seen a roach inside my apartment in the 3 years I've lived here. Over three years, I've only seen three roaches. One on the wall in the hallway most recently, one out of the elevator shaft and one in the stairwell. I woke up this morning and see it in the middle of my floor. It was moving very slowly and was able to kill it. I reported it to management and they're scheduling an…

I just moved into my very first apartment here in Manhattan, and I can’t stop crying. I did not get to see the apartment in person before I moved; my friend’s friend was leaving the city, and I trusted that the apartment would be good enough. Stupid, I know. So Ive moved into this apartment with the two other roommates that have been there for like two years. When I arrived, they mentioned that they do occasionally see a…

This has probably been posted about to death but I haven’t seen many answers about the possibility of breaking a lease/consulting a lawyer and wanted opinions. 4 months ago I moved into a new apartment and noticed roaches about a month or 2 in. At first it was just a couple a day in the kitchen and bathroom. Annoying, but nothing I thought I should do anything about. Landlord was notified and sent out a weekly exterminator that didn’t really do anything.…

Large food trucks have now started to set up shop right on the sidewalk on Mainstreet
There are have been countless posts on here about vendors placing their tables wherever on the sidewalks with no regard for the flow of walking traffic but enough people have not been calling out actual food trucks that are now fully right on the sidewalk. In the mornings next to Macy's, 1 or 2 large food trucks now have just decided to block an entire half of the sidewalk. Now you are dodging scaffolding,…

Anyone else notice the sidewalk situation at 5th St & Bedford Ave?
The setup seems to keep getting bigger (the additional tables) and she sits in her car from Jersey while everything continues to take up a big chunk of an already narrow sidewalk. Small tables with people actually vending are one thing, but this setup makes it really hard to walk by. I remember back in 2000 when none of this (except Northside) was here. And I’m just not sure that driving in from Jersey to sell sunglasses to…

Williamsburg street vendor repeatedly blocking sidewalk at 5th St & Bedford Ave
Has anyone else noticed the street vendor at 5th St and Bedford Ave regularly taking up a substantial portion of the already narrow sidewalk with her car, tables, and equipment? She sits in her car and vends while the setup continues to occupy the sidewalk. The setup appears to extend several feet into the pedestrian walkway, leaving limited space for people to pass. I’ve documented the issue with photos. Has anyone…

Cooking Grease Spill in Grand St Bike Lane
Heads up: my bf and I just wiped out in the Grand St Eastbound bikelane approaching Bushwick Ave. Several people came up to us and told us they saw other people go down and that cooking oil was dumped there. We called 311 and they said someone from the Department of Environmental Protection will be here to clean it up within an hour. If we’d fallen 10 feet earlier, we would’ve landed on the cement divider. Careful out there, y’all.

Garbage Situation at 41st and 6th park entrance not improving
Hello all, I am a Sunset Park resident who is tired of the garbage situation on 41st and 6th and trying to get my baby's stroller through the puddles, garbage bags, and stink. It got media attention (most notably in the Gothamist) in early August but the situation has not improved. I think it's partly because the powers-that-be don't seem to understand that daily (and it is actually less than daily) collection is not enough if…

Issues with apartment boiler heat / hot water
My building has had a heat / hot water outage 10+ times so far this year (the first few times were in the winter and it was miserable). I heard from one of the maintenance crew that my landlord owns 2 other buildings in our block, and to save money they’re using 1 boiler to try and heat all 3, which is leading to the system getting overwhelmed and shutting down constantly. I’ve tried calling 311 to file a complaint with HPD, but HPD gives landlords…

Foul odor and liquid at Broadway and 31st Street
I tried searching for similar posts, but I did not find any, so I am posting here. This has been occurring for at least 4 months or more now, but I recently realized where the source of the smell and liquid was coming from. There is a foul liquid bubbling out of a metal plate that collects in the accessibility curb cut of the crosswalk (South East corner, it's visible even on Google street views). This is a seemingly daily occurrence, regardless…
